A Chessboard Made from Junk Furniture and Scrap Metal
Chess is a classic game that has been around for centuries. It is a game of strategy and skill that requires players to think ahead and plan their moves carefully. While there are many different types of chess sets available, one of the most unique and creative ways to play the game is with a chessboard made from junk furniture and scrap metal.
This type of chessboard is a great way to add a unique and creative touch to any game room or living space. It is also a great way to repurpose old furniture and scrap metal that would otherwise be thrown away. With a little bit of creativity and some basic tools, anyone can create a one-of-a-kind chessboard from junk furniture and scrap metal.
Materials Needed
The materials needed to create a chessboard from junk furniture and scrap metal are fairly simple. The most important materials are the pieces of furniture and scrap metal that will be used to create the board. This could include old chairs, tables, dressers, or any other type of furniture that can be taken apart and repurposed. Scrap metal can include anything from old car parts to metal pipes and rods.
In addition to the furniture and scrap metal, other materials that may be needed include wood glue, screws, nails, and paint. Depending on the type of furniture and scrap metal being used, additional materials may be needed.
Steps to Create a Chessboard
Once the materials have been gathered, the next step is to begin creating the chessboard. The first step is to take apart the furniture and scrap metal and lay out the pieces on a flat surface. This will help to determine the size and shape of the board.
Once the size and shape of the board have been determined, the pieces of furniture and scrap metal can be glued together. Wood glue is the best option for this step, as it will provide a strong bond between the pieces. Once the pieces are glued together, they can be screwed or nailed into place.
The next step is to paint the board. This can be done with any type of paint, but it is important to make sure that the paint is suitable for the type of material being used. Once the paint has dried, the board is ready to be used.
Adding Finishing Touches
The final step is to add any finishing touches to the board. This could include adding pieces of scrap metal or furniture to the board to create a unique design. It could also include adding pieces of wood or metal to the board to create a more traditional look.
Once the board is complete, it is ready to be used for a game of chess. This type of chessboard is a great way to add a unique and creative touch to any game room or living space.

Rite Epic Dude, Love this project been on my bucket list for like ever, if I can do half as good a job I'd have a smile on my face! Question if I may, I have the same bandsaw and was wondering what blade you used for the brass?
New belt sander looks awesome๐ First time I used my pull saw I ran my fingers along the edge to clean as I do with my other saws and yep got the shock of my life and a few cuts to boot๐ TFS, GB ๐
Another detailed use of redundant materials, to fashion such a delightful piece of furniture. Much respect!
I love your attention to detail, BEAUTIFUL piece!!!!!!!!
Definitely a "diamond" what you made. This goes with a fireplace, a good whiskey / cognac and a few good chairs. This may be the continuation of this project. Where does this "diamond" piece go?
Exquisite
What a beautiful project! I love the finished piece so much. The precision and care you put into making just shows in the finished product. Stunning work.

Beautiful, but then again, I never saw you make anything that wasn't beautiful!
Dang that looks so good. I always loved a good game of Chess. Even was in Chess Club back in high School and i still miss it.
Again, it shows you don't need fancy and expensive tools to make something beautiful, most youtube woodworking videos only see brands like Festool, Mafell, Milwaukee, it's like you can't do anything without them and you in the simplicity of your shed and DIY tools show otherwise. Dude, I don't miss any of your videos. You are clearly underrated, you deserve to have millions of subscribers.
Travail remarquable et minutieux, bravo
Fantastic job!!! โค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธ๐๐ป๐๐ป๐๐ป
But Iโm not gonna lie, I honestly half expected you to create the chessman from scratch too!!!๐
Just wow!!! It is an honor to watch you work. Thanks for the videos.
At 34:23, you could have given an on camera thumbs up, and no one would have objected.
I though the individual pieces would be handcrafted as well. ๐ I love the chessboard.
Thatโs really nice! A lesson to be learned is never discard scrap wood.
