Stop Doing This in Your Yoga Practice
Yoga is a great way to stay fit and healthy, but it’s important to practice it correctly. There are certain things that you should avoid doing in your yoga practice in order to get the most out of it. Here are some of the things you should stop doing in your yoga practice.
1. Don’t Push Yourself Too Hard
It’s important to challenge yourself in your yoga practice, but it’s also important to know your limits. Pushing yourself too hard can lead to injury and can also make your practice less enjoyable. Listen to your body and don’t push yourself beyond what you can handle.
2. Don’t Compare Yourself to Others
It’s easy to get caught up in comparing yourself to other people in your yoga class. Everyone is at a different level and has different abilities. Don’t compare yourself to others and focus on your own practice.
3. Don’t Hold Your Breath
Holding your breath during yoga can lead to dizziness and can also make it harder to focus on your practice. Make sure to take deep breaths throughout your practice and focus on your breath.
4. Don’t Skip the Warm-Up
It’s important to warm up before your yoga practice in order to prevent injury. Make sure to take the time to do some light stretching and breathing exercises before you start your practice.
5. Don’t Ignore Your Body
It’s important to listen to your body during your yoga practice. If something doesn’t feel right, don’t push yourself and take a break.
6. Don’t Rush Through the Postures
Yoga is about more than just the physical postures. Take the time to focus on your breath and be mindful of your body. Don’t rush through the postures and take the time to really focus on each one.
7. Don’t Forget to Cool Down
Just like it’s important to warm up before your practice, it’s also important to cool down afterwards. Take the time to do some light stretching and breathing exercises after your practice in order to help your body recover.

Very helpful, thank you! I have hyperextended elbows and it always felt terrible to draw my arms overhead with interlaced fingers. Another tip I found useful is not to force yourself to keep your arms straight, e.g. the back arm in a seated twist that comes on the mat behind your butt. It's better to always keep a slight bend in the arms and, when possible, even more of a bend 🙂
🙂🙂
I'm that girl. My warrior 2 used to look weird 😂
only if your stacking weight on them
Amazing 😊
Thank you!!
Thank you. My arms don’t naturally straighten, they have a bend in them. I’m always trying so hard to get them to straighten. I’ll stop now.
Thanks for your tips 😊🙏
