5 DIY Landscaping Tips on a Budget
Landscaping can be a great way to add value to your home and make it look more attractive. However, it can also be expensive. Fortunately, there are some DIY landscaping tips that can help you save money while still creating a beautiful outdoor space. Here are five tips to help you get started.
1. Start with a Plan
Before you start any landscaping project, it’s important to have a plan. Take some time to think about what you want your outdoor space to look like and how you want it to function. Consider the size of the area, the type of plants you want to use, and any other features you may want to include. Once you have a plan in place, you can start to look for materials and supplies that fit within your budget.
2. Shop Around for Supplies
When it comes to landscaping supplies, it pays to shop around. Look for deals at local home improvement stores, garden centers, and online retailers. You may also be able to find used materials at yard sales or thrift stores. Don’t be afraid to ask for discounts or negotiate prices.
3. Reuse and Recycle
Reusing and recycling materials is a great way to save money on landscaping projects. For example, you can use old bricks or stones to create a walkway or patio. You can also use old wood to build a fence or trellis. If you have any plants that you don’t need, you can give them away or trade them with friends or neighbors.
4. Plant in Groups
When planting flowers or other plants, it’s best to group them together. This will create a more unified look and help you save money on supplies. You can also use mulch or other ground cover to help keep weeds at bay and conserve water.
5. Get Creative
Finally, don’t be afraid to get creative with your landscaping. You can use items like old tires, pallets, or even recycled glass to create unique features in your outdoor space. You can also use paint or other materials to add color and texture to your landscape.

new subscriber!! this video is awesome….I think I could even do some of the stuff you showed by myself!! the transformation is wonderful 👍😇
Really nice – thanks!
Nice video but I think you missed the purpose of mulch. The old mulch was full of nutrients. And by putting weed cloth down you are stopping the new mulch from getting into your soil and feeding the plants.
Just subscribed. Great work! You gave me ideas for my home
You make it look so easy. I'd be exhausted after five minutes.
Looks like Fishers!
I love your comment about the thorny plant! I removed ALL thorny plants around my house immediately.
I'm in my first house that was built around the 30s I think, and there's rock beds around the house with the one on the backside being basically gravel…and the fabric is popping up and I want to replace it all with rubber mulch..but dreading the labor.
I have no idea where to start, and what steps to take.
Your video honestly helped me out a lot. I have some vacation time next week and a few days will be spent tackling my mess.
The way you mark the circles around the tree doesnt give you a circle. Your radius shortens as you go around the trunk, giving you an oblong circle.
nice ideas, but they can be done mote precise with the tools you have. a string to guide the pavers n the edge of the long flowerbed, would have give sraight lines, as well as equals higth. A shame you put so much time in taht, and it stil looks "disrupted"
Bro you need some more plants.
Find your local compost or garden center. You can get the mulch in bulk with no plastic.
Having those border pavers placed so only their tops are visible makes mowing around them easier.
Lawn edged, grass seed, fertilizer and water.
I love doable diys
trees would be happier without a mountain of mulch around them. that is actually BAD for the tree. and the smarter way to mulch garden beds is to not put the weed barrier down and then to freshen up a light rake and fresh mulch on top. See the mulch breaks down over time and gives nutrients back to the soil
I love it and thanks for sharing.
That was great!!!
This isn’t a good plan for healthy soil. Covering it with landscape fabric suffocates the soil causing your beneficial soil ecosystem to stagnate and die off ultimately killing your plants. Mulching trees too deep can lead to rot and death. If you listened to your garden center then you should really be frustrated that the “professionals” took you down a bad path. I’d suggest contacting your local extension office and take some courses on soil health before giving out this kind of advice.
I did this the other day. 35 bags of mulch later 😰
You did such a great job I can’t wait to get started on my yard front and back. I have a corner home so I most definitely wanna lawn that makes the block looks beautiful, thanks for sharing and giving me ideas.
What a great job.
