Planting Up My Vegetable Kitchen Garden ๐ ๐ฑ๐ซ
Gardening is a great way to get outdoors and enjoy nature while also growing your own food. Planting a vegetable kitchen garden is a great way to get started with gardening and to enjoy the fruits of your labor. In this article, I will discuss the steps involved in planting up my vegetable kitchen garden.
Choosing the Right Location
The first step in planting up my vegetable kitchen garden is to choose the right location. The location should be in an area that receives at least six hours of direct sunlight each day. It should also be in an area that is protected from strong winds and has good drainage. Additionally, the soil should be well-draining and nutrient-rich.
Preparing the Soil
Once the location has been chosen, the next step is to prepare the soil. This involves tilling the soil to a depth of at least six inches and adding organic matter such as compost or manure. Additionally, the soil should be tested for pH levels and any necessary amendments should be added.
Choosing the Right Plants
The next step is to choose the right plants for my vegetable kitchen garden. I should choose plants that are suitable for the climate and soil type in my area. Additionally, I should choose plants that are disease-resistant and require minimal maintenance. Some of the plants I might consider include tomatoes, peppers, squash, beans, and lettuce.
Planting the Seeds
Once the plants have been chosen, the next step is to plant the seeds. I should plant the seeds according to the instructions on the seed packet. Additionally, I should make sure to water the seeds regularly and keep the soil moist.
Caring for the Plants
The final step in planting up my vegetable kitchen garden is to care for the plants. This involves regularly watering the plants, weeding the garden, and fertilizing the soil. Additionally, I should make sure to harvest the vegetables when they are ripe and to remove any diseased or damaged plants.
#milkweedformonarchs2023
In addition to planting up my vegetable kitchen garden, I can also help support monarch butterflies by planting milkweed. Milkweed is the only plant that monarch butterflies lay their eggs on and is essential for their survival. By planting milkweed in my garden, I can help create a habitat for monarch butterflies and contribute to the #milkweedformonarchs2023 campaign.

My milkweed seeds itself and grows all over my property. I do get tons of monarch from them, in zone 9b. I pull them and put in pots and save them for friends and family. They take a lot of water it seems.
Jaynie, I"m so sorry for your loss of Dwight โค
So sorry for your loss ๐
Happy Birthday to your daughter ๐ฅณ excellent content ๐๐ฝ
Happy Birthday Shay ๐! Flowers like alyssum and marigolds help deter pest on veggies? So sorry about your kitty.
I have about 8 Milkweeds I started from seed and amazingly they are doing great. Let's hope they make it all the way. Nothing like an upcoming garden tour to keep you going.
Awweeee love the clip of sweet Dwight with his mousyโฆ๐ข
I love what you said – a good gardener keeps trying. You should put that on a shirt

I tried a Patio Eggplant for the first time last year. They were delicious! Not very big, if I cut them into slices, it was about the size of a quarter. Very tender, not very seedy like the big ones. Started my own from seeds this year, can't wait for them to start producing.
Sorry about your fur baby, they really make a big impact on our lives.
Can you link your hat please? Thank you
Happy birthday Shay. I am sorry for your loss of Dwight.
Chives or a pepper plant would be good in your leftover area.
May memories of Dwightโs love and friendship comfort you in the loss of your beloved cat. โค
I plant cherry tomatoes and basil. Not much of a vegetable gardener. Good luck on your garden tour.
I'm so sorry for the loss of your furbaby.
So sorry for the loss of your kitty Dwight. So very sad. As for your veggie garden, do you like either bell or jalapeรฑo peppers. They donโt take up a lot of width in a garden.
Perennials: 1st year, sleeper. 2nd year, creeper. 3rd year, leaper!
Can you add a trellis the zucchini to save space
Sorry for your loss ๐ข
Rest in peace Dwight
You have room for a pepper plant! A hot, sweet, banana, jalapeรฑo, it is your choice. ๐
Sending (((hugs))) ๐
Hi Janey lynne here. Sorry about Dwight, itโs so hard losing a pet. What about growing some rosemary and putting a cage around the zucchini so the vines go up.
also more herbs is always a good option
shishito peppers are fun and one plant isn't super huge but will produce lots of peppers
Iโm so sorry for your loss. Orange kitties have the best personalities. I recently lost my August, so a truly feel the sadness your family must feel. Sending love!
Please wish your daughter Happy birthday ๐ ๐ฅณ
๐ฟ๐ฝ๐ป๐ฟ Dwight was a chatty cat! Guarding his prey like a good hunterโค. We lost our Calico Cannelle last year on June 1. She's now behind the Lilac Double White๐.
I hope I can find a dwarf tomato this year, and why not a dwarf zucchini! Roma did well for me last year, because it was a longer hotter summer than usual. I prefer determinate tomatoes and non-vining zucchini. I only grow those two crops. Can't wait to see how yours do.
Janey my heart breaks for you and your family. I know how special Dwight was. Let all those special memories fill the empty space in your heart. Sending so much love and a big virtual hug your way ๐
So sorry for the loss of your little fur baby. Love and peace little being of light xxx
Add some more herbs. Mint and oregano always come back year after year but they will need to be in containers. Also, plant some flowers like marigolds.
So sorry to hear about your kitty. ๐ข
Janey, I love your milkweed segment!! Also, please be sure you're purchasing "pesticide" free milkweed. Most big box stores have sprayed theirs with pesticides. Ask your local nursery for non pesticide milkweed.
My small space veggie garden has tomatoes, bell peppers, radishes, carrotts (had, cuz they all died, lol), banana beppers and onions. Im in Florida Zone 9b ๐
I grow lots of different unique varieties from seed my favorite last year was the pink Berkley tie dye so good this year I have a lot of heirlooms lol
Sending you hugs. So sorry for the loss of Dwight. Heโs definitely a cutie and adorable. Thank you for sharing a video of him. Losing a pet is heartbreaking for sure. Love to you and the family. ๐ ๐ ๐
So I should say Iโm an experimenter not a gardener lol so true.. trial and error all over the place.. this experiment, that experiment lol๐Janey these aphids are just out of control this spring! They are just everywhere! Happy 8th birthday! Aww Dwight was such a sweetieโค and serious about that mouse! ๐
Awww, so sorry for your loss ๐
I grow zucchini and yellow squash on a circular tomato cage, to minimize the space it takes up. More decorative obelisk trellises would work well too.
