That is a very cool machine 😮
When you assembled the pieces, did you stitch them together with the yarn? And in places where you cut, how did you keep it from unravelling? Loose knit fabrics terrify me xD
I adore you, but girl, look into some mechanical care lessons. Please take the time to properly clean and lubricate the machine and it will work a lot smoother.
I am very much enjoying the random Nick appearances. He comes across as a cryptid who is actually your familiar. It's quite merry!
I loved your video 😂 ❤
My mom got me the early-2000s version of this when I was a teenager and it was A BEAR to use. I gave up and went back to hand-knitting right quick and abandoned the machine to some dark basement corner. Kudos to you, Rachel, for persevering and making A Thing! Every time I wear something I knit, I'm proud of myself all over again. I hope you have the same feeling!
Also, love the call out to your new glasses. I picked out the exact same glasses when I got new ones this last time 😁
how fun, I remember seeing them advertised when I was a child. You are so great.
The top came out so cute! It might work better (more smoothly, less of a work out) if you get it serviced or deep cleaned, but not bad for your first try at it at all. I love that your grandma kept all the catalogs and saved them in the box
I love this video. You should visit Dorset or Cornwall when you come to England, they’re both very scenic and have lots of history. I feel like you’d really appreciate Clovelly in Cornwall or Tyneham Village in Dorset which was evacuated in 1943 during the war.
Now you can make a knitted matching pantsuit like they had in the 60's.
Hey, I don’t know if someone already said this but to help with the whole thing of the project falling off, add weights with hooks to the finished end. It keeps tension on the working end so that it doesn’t fall off the hooks. I mean even a binder/paper clip holding something will work too.
I am a hand knitter and this is awesome. Wow. Never saw anything like this, and I was born before this was ordered by your grandmother. Wonder if she ever made anything with it. Good luck. 😊
You are my hero! I would have taken a hammer to it after one try! 😂
The knitting poem is giving “in the jungle you must wait…”
Once again, the past comes to our rescue.
I love it❤
I recommend learning to crochet if you want a slightly less intimidating introduction to yarn crafts! I know how to knit, but I can be such a pain and is a pretty unforgiving to beginners. I often crochet as a chill pastime 😊
A story where an actual manual labor is much easier than a gadget it tries to improve
This video made my day!! 😂
You are coming to England!?! Despite the virtually nonexistent chance of me seeing you at any point while you are here, I am inordinately excited by this news 🎉 It’s April, so bring outfits that account for weather ranging from snowstorm to tropical and plan to experience the entire spectrum most days. Have an amazing time.
I’d never heard of a knitting machine before. So cool, especially the little bits probably done by your grandma! As always, a pleasure getting to watch you explore a new craft ❤
Wow! I have one of these (different manufacturer) I bought in 1985! I only made one sweater that I still have & it came out great, but it’s a real learning challenge. And after the pieces are done you still need to put them together manually.
I want to borrow that SO badly!!!!!!
I notice the guy starts messing with it without looking at the instructions. Man, "Machine! Good!".
i do tutorials on how to use these knitting machines on tiktok if you want i can send you a message there i follow you there as well
Teníamos una en casa! 😀 . Tejíamos y creabamos patrones… *
Your Grandma would be so proud!
Well done love your videos
Knitting content from Rachel!!!! This is a dream come true!
You've inspired me!! I bought a sewing machine like 2 years ago for my birthday and I have never opened it. I got SCURRED. It is intimidating to learn how to use a new tool. But I just finished watching someone else's video where they bought the exact same sewing machine I have, and then watched your video right after and it makes me want to pry my machine outta the box and give it a whirl. If I wait until I'm ready I'll never freakin' do it.
P.S: Great job!
I find it goes more smoothly if you have it clamped to the table as it gives some tension to work against
xD omg now seeing how one of these actually work, as someone with anxiety, can we all just agree that knitting by hand yes, is Way slower but Way less scarier and anxiety inducing? AHAHHAHAHAHAHA but i loved to see one in use i've only seen one on the corner of my grandma's old house and not even the real thing set up just the box itself HAHAHA curiosity sated thank u ♡ xD HAHAHAHA
So glad you did this!!! I have one one of those knitting machines. I too, have been too afraid. Now I will give it a go! Thanks
I love that you just went for it lol. good job! if you're interested, @EngineeringKnits has several videos where she's figuring out her knitting machine, and then also making vintage sweaters with it
Aww so exciting! I have my great-grandmother’s knitting machine from around the same time period and I’ve never had it out the box as I’m too scared 😂
I do have a more modern one from the 80’s/90’s that my Aunt gave me and that one is slightly less scary 🥴
Like NO WAY . Like HOW did you do that?!! My parents use to have one, I remember it well! How did you have the patience, the perseverance… you are THE QUEEN of creativity 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼✨😂
❤❤❤❤❤
I love that you made darts, that's not something we're used to in hand knitting. Anyway, I want to play with my mom's knitting machine now…
I would absolutely love to see Rachel doing more videos with this tool, it's so magical to see how it works!!! >w< even with the little failures, it's still so amazing, I swear. I've been having a rough week and this was just so fun and nice to watch UwU.
Congratulations on your success! My mom had one of those, and when she passed away, we found all of the attachments, but never found the machine. Those things are amazing!
😄
This is so cool!! I'm so impressed by the top you made
Basement cleaning/ organization video pllllease!
