3 Day Potty Training Method 101 | How I Successfully Potty Trained My 1 Year Old in 3 Days!
Potty training can be a daunting task for any parent. It can be a long and arduous process that can take weeks or even months to complete. But with the right approach and a bit of patience, it is possible to potty train your child in just three days. In this article, I will share my experience of successfully potty training my one-year-old in three days using the 3 Day Potty Training Method.
What is the 3 Day Potty Training Method?
The 3 Day Potty Training Method is a potty training technique developed by Dr. Phil and Dr. Joanne Stern. It is based on the idea that children can learn to use the potty in just three days if they are given the right guidance and support. The method involves a combination of positive reinforcement, consistency, and patience.
How to Prepare for Potty Training
Before you begin potty training, it is important to make sure that your child is ready. This means that they should be able to understand basic instructions, be able to stay dry for at least two hours, and be able to pull their pants up and down. It is also important to make sure that your child is comfortable with the idea of using the potty.
The 3 Day Potty Training Method
The 3 Day Potty Training Method involves a combination of positive reinforcement, consistency, and patience. Here is a step-by-step guide to the method:
Day 1:
On the first day, you should introduce your child to the potty and explain how it works. You should also encourage them to sit on the potty for a few minutes each hour. If they do not go, do not get frustrated. Instead, offer positive reinforcement and praise them for trying.
Day 2:
On the second day, you should continue to encourage your child to sit on the potty every hour. You should also start to introduce rewards for successful attempts. This could be a sticker, a treat, or a special toy.
Day 3:
On the third day, you should continue to encourage your child to use the potty and reward them for successful attempts. You should also start to introduce a regular potty schedule. This should include regular potty breaks throughout the day.
Tips for Successful Potty Training
Here are some tips to help you successfully potty train your child in three days:
• Be patient and consistent.

• Make sure your child is comfortable with the idea of using the potty.
• Introduce a regular potty schedule.
• Be prepared for accidents.

I'm pretty much in tears. This boy clearly loves and trusts his mom while she shows him half naked. Disgusting
How can you film your son on the toilet??? Do you value his privacy? Would you show yourself sitting on the toilet half naked?
Do you think I can use this method even if my kid isn't talking much yet? He is being raised trilingual so a bit slower on talking… maybe with pee ans poo sounds? Or is it absolutely necessary for them to be fully communicating?
My son has been pulling off his pamper or undoing the straps and he also says booboo sometimes. He doesn't know pee pee so he says booboo for everything. He will be 2 in 4 months & I've been so scared to potty train. With my first, my father trained him, but this time it's all me. I'm going to try this method. Wish me luck
Thank you for keeping it real❤
15:00 I think this is what I do wrong 😅

Calling a 23 month old a 1 year old is rather clickbaitey.
I am a single mother of a 13 yr old girl and 1yr 5 months boy will keep trying as I just bought his first potty but feel he may prefer the toilet more as my daughter was like that
Thank you for sharing this!, I'm about to train my boy and this is a big encouragement.
I’ve been holding potty training my 2yr 3month boy because of timing.. but I’m going to dedicate next Friday-Sunday before school. I believe at his daycare they scare him with potty Bc he seems absolutely DISGUSTED about it 😢 even though i encourage it every time
I had to come back to say your video helped me sooo much! I potty trained my 23 months old in 3 days. Wasnt easy, was exhausting but it worked!! People dont belive when I tell I potty trained him so quick
I wanted to ask for your help about regression. We use your video and my son was almost completely potty trained and just because sick ….then better ,then sick again and hated his potty 😢…..so I back off. This winter was really hard for us…..any tips would be great.
1st time Mom her and i just have to say THANK YOU SOOO MUCH for this raw realistic tips. My son just turned two but he’s not very verbal so idk if I should start now or wait a bit 😢
When do you start night time in undies.
It took a day and a half just to get through this video.
My baby is 9 months old and doesn’t know how to say pee or anything and he still naps 2-3 times a day for 2 hours and sleeps through the night, how can I potty train him?
I have my 3.5yo son for the summer and his mom hasn’t been able to potty train him she she’s left that task up to me 😂 I will be trying this starting today so wish me luck 💪🏼
I’m going to start potty training my 3 year old boy. I’m curious to know if at night I should still be putting my son a pull-up or regular underwear.
God bless you for making this video! My daughter potty trained using the traditional method. She was trained before she was 2. My son struggled with the traditional method. Finally, at four years old- I tried your method. Thank you for making this video because it helped me to find a method that clicked with my son! He was fully trained with almost no accidents (called an accident for a reason) in ONLY 4 days! I’m so grateful for your help 🙏❤️
Why the apple juice?
I am training my 14-month-old baby boy with your method. He has been showing readiness signs for a month but I was too scared to start potty training. Your video gave me some hope. Today is day 1 and it's been great. He had a couple of accidents but after that he is peeing in the potty or at least in the bathroom.
Do you still put diapers on him at nap time during the training?
Thank you Gabriela, we are gearing up for the long weekend, I've read the PDFs but the video definitely helps. I have a question – let's say if a parent won't be able to stay consistent, should just one parent drive the potty training?
So at night do you do diapers?
I’m following this method with my 2-year old daughter, but it’s not 7pm and and we haven’t had any successful pees or poos in the toilet, not even a drips, in the toilet. Towards the end of the day, she was absolutely sick of sitting in the potty every 15-minutes and cried the entire time, even though she never sat in the potty for more than a few minutes. What am I doing wrong??
My daughter (2.5 years old) has been screaming and bawling EVERYTIME I put her on the toilet. She even does it WHILE she’s peeing. I finally gave up out of sadness and hopelessness and now feel like such a bad mom. Maybe she’s just not ready but that doesn’t comfort me because what does that say about my ability to know my own daughter and her readiness to potty train.
Hey, so I followed this method and my son was doing really well. By the second day he was telling me when he had to go to the bathroom, but now it’s the fourth day and he hasn’t been communicating at all. He’s had like 5 accidents and it’s only 1pm, I think he might just be really stubborn because he was communicating and now he’s not. He’s sort of freaking out when we go to the bathroom, I’m not sure what to do.
