Smart Home Tech I Actually Use
Smart home technology has been around for a few years now, and it’s becoming increasingly popular. I’ve been using smart home tech for a while now, and I’ve found it to be incredibly useful. In this article, I’ll be discussing the smart home tech I actually use and how it has improved my life.
Smart Lights
One of the most useful pieces of smart home tech I use is smart lights. I have a few different types of smart lights in my home, including Philips Hue bulbs, LIFX bulbs, and a few others. I use these lights to control the lighting in my home, and I can do it from my phone or with voice commands. I can set the lights to turn on and off at certain times, dim them, and even change the color of the lights. It’s a great way to set the mood in my home, and it’s also a great way to save energy.
Smart Thermostat
Another piece of smart home tech I use is a smart thermostat. I have a Nest thermostat, which I use to control the temperature in my home. I can set the thermostat to turn on and off at certain times, and I can also adjust the temperature from my phone. This has been incredibly useful, as I can make sure my home is always at the perfect temperature. It’s also a great way to save energy, as I can set the thermostat to turn off when I’m not home.
Smart Security System
I also have a smart security system in my home. I have a few different cameras set up around my home, and I can view them from my phone. I can also set up alerts to be sent to my phone if there is any suspicious activity. This has been incredibly useful, as I can keep an eye on my home even when I’m not there.
Smart Home Hub
Finally, I have a smart home hub in my home. This is a device that connects all of my smart home devices together, and it allows me to control them from one central location. I can use the hub to control my lights, thermostat, security system, and more. It’s a great way to keep everything organized and make sure everything is working properly.
Conclusion
Smart home technology has been incredibly useful for me, and I’m sure it can be useful for others as well. I use a variety of different smart home devices, including lights, thermostats, security systems, and more. These devices have made my life easier and more efficient, and I’m sure they can do the same for others.

Sonos sound system is the best for sure! I use Apple Home but the whole smart home thing is getting more fun to witness.
My two cents on smart lights.
To have a tactile switch in a room but you have a Wi-Fi bulb, Philips hue as a wyze connected remote. I just attached it to the wall and it’s just like a switch but with 4 programmed color settings and a dimmer as well
Google home pairs well with Sony TV’s. We have a small nest hub built into the wall next to the couch. It’s like an Apple Watch for the tv and it’s amazing
I had Netgear for years, upgraded to Ubiquity all the way love it
I would recognize that TaylorMade Stealth headcover anywhere, even through the blur LOL

Nope. Google is a very unethical company and is shafting all customers who use Nest cameras. April 2024 Google is discontinuing the nest app permanently. All dropcam and dropcam pros will be rendered worthless and unusable. Google it….APRIL 8, 2024 PULLING THE PLUG ON CUSTOMERS.
Is this Dr. Dre??

I 100% agree with not touching your phone in the morning. It’s amazing how much less productive I am and how much more scatter brained I am when I get on it before I’m ready for my day.

I am sweating just looking at you thermostats. 76?!?!
💯 for the solar set up!
Bullshit. Nest Hub Max is fucking garbage. It constantly reboots and loses wifi connection. It has no support at all. Dont buy anything from Google. They don't support anything they make. They just dump products on people and abandon them immediately. The entire google smart home devices experience sucks. BTW even phillips Hue lights suck now. They respond poorly, half the time one light doesnt turn on somewhere. Smart home stuff is absolute garbage that will give you headaches and rage every time you expect it to work and it just doesn't. It's randomized mental torture. 🙂 This is paid for bullshit. Dont waste your money. Google just dropped support for third party smart assistants and they will drop support for the nest hub assistants as well. I'd expect nest cameras to also go away. Google does not give a fuck about its customers. There is no support. Once they have your money, you are left with useless E-waste.
what? i charge my doorbell like once or twice a year….
Philistine – dude get a hue motion sensor and you won’t even need to press a button.
Or use Alexa to create a routine – lights will come on at a certain time and go off say midnight
How well does Google Home/Nest work on an IPhone? I am an android user looking to maybe go over to apple but my house is set up with Google
You should get some “Govee” lights. “Govee” is the best ”smart lighting” company on the market.
