Easy DIY Home Hacks – Best Home Improvement Projects
Do-it-yourself (DIY) home improvement projects are becoming increasingly popular as homeowners look for ways to save money and add value to their homes. DIY projects can range from simple tasks such as painting a room to more complex projects such as installing a new kitchen or bathroom. No matter what type of project you are considering, there are some easy DIY home hacks that can help you get the job done quickly and efficiently.
1. Use a Paint Sprayer
One of the most time-consuming parts of any home improvement project is painting. A paint sprayer can make the job much easier and faster. Paint sprayers are relatively inexpensive and can be used to quickly and evenly apply paint to walls, ceilings, and other surfaces. They are also great for applying a variety of finishes, such as lacquer, varnish, and polyurethane.
2. Use a Pressure Washer
Pressure washers are a great way to quickly and easily clean outdoor surfaces such as decks, patios, and driveways. Pressure washers use high-pressure water to remove dirt, grime, and other debris from surfaces. They are also great for removing stubborn stains from concrete and other surfaces.
3. Install a Programmable Thermostat
Installing a programmable thermostat is one of the easiest and most cost-effective ways to save money on your energy bills. Programmable thermostats allow you to set the temperature of your home to a specific temperature at certain times of the day. This can help you save money by only heating or cooling your home when you need it.
4. Install a Smart Home System
Smart home systems are becoming increasingly popular as homeowners look for ways to make their homes more efficient and secure. Smart home systems allow you to control lights, locks, thermostats, and other devices from your smartphone or tablet. They can also be used to monitor energy usage and provide security alerts.
5. Install a Home Security System
Installing a home security system is one of the best ways to protect your home and family. Home security systems can include motion sensors, cameras, and alarms that can alert you if there is an intruder in your home. They can also be used to monitor energy usage and provide security alerts.
6. Install a Water Filtration System
Installing a water filtration system is a great way to ensure that your family is drinking clean, safe water. Water filtration systems can remove contaminants such as lead, chlorine, and other chemicals from your water supply. They can also help reduce the amount of sediment and other particles in your water.
7. Install a Home Automation System
Home automation systems are becoming increasingly popular as homeowners look for ways to make their homes more efficient and secure. Home automation systems allow you to control lights, locks, thermostats, and other devices from your smartphone or tablet. They can also be used to monitor energy usage and provide security alerts.
8. Install a Smart Sprinkler System
Installing a smart sprinkler system is a great way to save money on your water bills. Smart sprinkler systems can be programmed to water your lawn and garden at specific times of the day. They can also be used to detect when it is raining and adjust the watering schedule accordingly.
9. Install a Smart Lighting System
Smart lighting systems are becoming increasingly popular as homeowners look for ways to make their homes more efficient and secure. Smart lighting systems allow you to control lights, dimmers, and other devices from your smartphone or tablet. They can also be used to monitor energy usage and provide security alerts.
10. Install a Smart Lock System
Installing a smart lock system is a great way to make your home more secure. Smart lock systems allow you to control who has access to your home and when they can enter. They can also be used to monitor energy usage and provide security alerts.

I hope this video inspires you to tackle those small projects around the house. What can you do in 15 minutes that would drastically change how your space functions?
Hi…Love your video…Just subscribed 🙂 In the video you said you could refinish a lamp with baking soda and water…So you don't need to add that to paint??…It's just baking soda and water??…If so, how do I measure that out??… I mean is it like one part baking soda and one part water or two parts baking soda and one part water, etc.??…Thank you for your time…Take care…
Now I have more ideas to do!! Lol 😅. Thanks for the inspirations, great video
Thanks for the motivation! I recently redid my guest bath because of your video and it came out marvelous! This weekend it’s finally warming up and I’m refreshing my patio starting now with purchasing my new patio table tablecloth with an umbrella hole that I’ve procrastinated forever on!
Great tip about the super glue on the felt pads. They always fall off!
Your videos inspire me. Thanks hon. The picture hanging will be a life saver. 😊
As a designer and avid DIY designer myself I've tackled any kinds of projects, and learn many new skills. The ones that I've yet to tackle though are anything electrical or plumbing. Good to see you were able to change your plumbing fixtures in your restroom. I would love to learn more about how to do that, as well as replacing light fixtures.
I always learn something new from you! Love it!
Love this content!👍🏼 Thanks!
I hung a tension rod in my shower behind the shower curtain above head height. That’s where the wet towels are hung. That way they are hidden.
Julie, how do you use anchors with those picture hangers? The nails are too slim to fit in wall anchor!
Forgot to add: I have been planning on hanging a gallery wall for months. All the supplies and sitting in the corner and ready. But I was intimidated about getting it straight and level. Thanks for your great tip! I will do THIS project ASAP.
yes! I love the DIY projects. although I may never get to them, I feel good knowing that perhaps some day I will do them! LOL
Good One!
Great, thank you
I felt like you were reading from my own list!! Spray painting, curtains up, pictures and galleries up! Small dopamine hits every time. On your list of tasks, do you delete the ones you’ve completed or strike through? I strike through or photo log and often surprise myself at how much hard work I’ve done, major accomplishments, that I’ve kind of forgotten about over time. It’s validation of our diy progress, and energizing to remember the accomplishments!! Great video Julie!
Hi Julie..a friend told me long ago find the piece you like and if the color is wrong paint it lol my rule of thumb now
Everyone needs a friend like you in there lives..thank you for inspiring us to do better with home projects 👍🙂
Julie my girl, you are in my head! For all of my adult life I have re-purposed items for economic reasons when no one else did. I get lots of compliments but all I can see is a poor person's painted thrift-flip attempt to look like something expensive that I really wanted. Before phones with camera's I'd quickly sketch plans out while in the store. And now it's popular to flip AND the best designer Julie 🤩 even does it, so I no longer feel self-negativity about it. I too scrutinize every room. I am obsessed with anything decor. I read and watch anything decor. It gives me such pleasure. I'm constantly thinking of ideas, then keep a list (incl color swatches if needed) in my purse of items I've narrowed it down to for a certain space so I'll have it on my radar along with measurements/color. Then if I come across something at a store, a thrift shop, or a garage sale, I know it will be an exact fit or color-coordinate. I have felt pads on all my furniture and you're right about the peel-off type. Somehow the pads always slide half off, yet I have to use pliers to try to remove them. Go figure! Being in an apartment I think of noisy neighbors ALL the time so laughed at your comment. I felt like a guilty thief trying to hurry and paint a couple of items outside once when I thought no one would be gawking 👀. I thought it was just me since I have no private yard. A tip I learned a long time ago with old tight fitting drawers (no, not that kind 🩲) is to rub a bar of soap 🧼 on them so they'll glide and not stick.
I am like you, have tons of scarves that I have folded in a drawer since I don't have a space or place like you do…but that is a good idea . Thanks for all the DIY tips.
Love this diy video. Many cool ideas.
how to patch holes and what if the piece is heave and I live alone
where do you buy the felt for the furniture
Your baby is soooo cute! ❤
Love all your tips. My favs were how you organize accessories and having a place for your tools in your house and not the garage. Loved that you used a cute decorative tower for your tools. I’m like you in that I like to tackle projects today! Thanks for sharing! Would love to see more organizing videos!
Hey Julie. I’m thinking about painting my bathroom, cabinets and countertops. It’s not in my budget to replace them. Any input as to what type of paint I should use and how to seal them? Thanks again for all your videos.
Nice ideas, except for the bar. No one needs a bar in their home. Alcohol has destroyed more lives than anything else.
Love to watch your videos , I’m definitely doing something to my ugly bathroom this weekend ,,thanks for all those amazing videos. 😊
Good Idea on the painters tape for the gallery wall
This was exactly what I needed. As an empty nester , there are so many projects. We are transitioning our (near the beach) home into a place where our adult kids can come with their families. Lots to do~ thanks for the great tips, tricks and ideas. I love this channel 👏
Good tips!
Love this!!! Great topic. ❤❤
I’m determined to hang art! I’ve done it before, but for some reason, I’m feeling intimidated because I have to add hangers to the frame. Seriously! The frame is super cheap, so if I ruin it, it’s really not a big deal. I do feel I overpaid for it considering it isn’t actually wood…it’s some weird crumbly stuff…so I guess I feel I need to get my money’s worth??? Of course with it leaning on the wall, I’m not getting any worth out of it anyway! This weekend it is!
Inspiring as always Julie! Thank you😊
Love this! Thank you! Really inspiring and right on time for spring! 💖🙌🏽
Thank you so much for creating such a helpful video. I really like how you create your photo gallery and will be replicating it!
I’m painting my wicker porch chairs a beautiful blue!
Hey Julie, yet again, a great share! There are several DIYs waiting on my To-Do list that I can't wait to get to, one includes the new knobs for the kitchen cabinets, but I wonder if I should wait to paint them first, what are your thoughts? Thanks, girl, you rock!
I've got pictures to hang by Saturday!
Thank you!
Awesomeness ❤
Julie I love this video. I’m like you I’ve become very handy doing things myself, mostly because handymen would quote me outrageous prices. I have a mirrored wall with a window I would like to put a curtain rod with curtains of course on the mirror do you have any tips where I won’t crack the mirror? Take care ❤
Julie, the scarf idea just brilliant
After learning how to use the drill my life changed 😂😂 holes everywhere 😂😂
Just love your ideas ❤❤❤
Thanks for sharing
