I’m Still Working On The Treehouse: Backyard Treehouse
Building a backyard treehouse is a great way to create a fun and unique outdoor space for your family to enjoy. It can be a great way to get the kids outside and away from screens, and it can also be a great way to create a special place for family gatherings and outdoor activities. Building a treehouse can be a fun and rewarding project, but it can also be a bit of a challenge. Here are some tips to help you get started on your backyard treehouse project.
Planning Your Treehouse
The first step in building a backyard treehouse is to plan out the design. You’ll need to decide on the size, shape, and features of the treehouse. You’ll also need to consider the type of tree you’ll be building on, as well as the type of materials you’ll need. It’s important to make sure that the treehouse is safe and secure, so make sure to consult with a professional if you’re unsure about any of the details.
Gathering Materials
Once you have a plan in place, it’s time to start gathering the materials you’ll need to build your treehouse. You’ll need to purchase lumber, nails, screws, and other hardware. You’ll also need to purchase any tools you don’t already have, such as a saw, drill, and hammer. Make sure to purchase the right size and type of materials for your project, as this will ensure that your treehouse is safe and secure.
Building the Treehouse
Once you have all the materials and tools you need, it’s time to start building your treehouse. Start by constructing the frame of the treehouse, making sure to use the right size and type of lumber. Once the frame is in place, you can start adding the walls, roof, and other features. Make sure to use the right type of screws and nails to ensure that the treehouse is secure.
Finishing Touches
Once the treehouse is built, it’s time to add the finishing touches. You can paint the treehouse, add decorations, and even add furniture. You can also add a ladder or rope to make it easier to get in and out of the treehouse. Make sure to use the right type of paint and decorations to ensure that the treehouse is safe and secure.

I'll see you when the streetlights turn on kids
Treeless tree house is a clubhouse 😅
I really think the Zipline needs a higher starting point.
Would also love to see what you do for shading?
I would love to build something like this or some of the elements of this for my daughter. Pity my “yard” is about 3m wide at its widest point.
Finally !
Absolutely amazing what you have done with this (tree)house. I love it.
Thank you for even saying for a movement, what it was like to grow up playing outside. – much love.
Man you are just way beyond awesome! At first I was all like, what a great dad to have built that for his boy. But then at the end I'm like dayam dude, you are tha man! You built it for all the kids! Your videos are always fun to watch and I really liked this one especially! You're a good man! By the way, thank you for all the tips and advice from your vids! I've started woodworking recently and they've been a great help to me! So, thanks!
Are those post supports gonna collect water and rot out the posts?
YEs! I was waiting for more treeless treehouse! I gain some new insights every time I watch one of your videos. I'm almost finished with my table I based off your Mid century table build. Luckily my tree cookie was big enough, so I didn't have to stretch it at all. Thank you for that! Can't wait to see what plans you have for the interior. cheers!
I love this! You are so right about the need to get outside and just play! My granddaughter is turning 7 in a few days and thankfully, she would rather be outside helping me work in the garden or flower beds, or just digging for worms, catching frogs, or playing in the mud. We were always outside growing up. It is sad that so many children these days don’t experience life without a screen in front of them. Y’all did an awesome job on this entire build. I’m looking forward to seeing the interior. 🙂
Well done Jason! You’re a great guy and a class act no doubt. Thanks for being one of the extraordinary.
Dad of 4, dad jokes, dad bod and woodworker. Great advice for all parents for their kids to play, get dirty and us their imagination! I’ve been building a giant sandbox for the little ones this spring.
You need to add a flag pole so you can fly a pirate flag or whatever.
read Free Range Kids the book is how we should raise independent kids
green sweatshirt guy / did you go to hire a nerd and not tell us ??
@ 1:28 that zipline / do you really own all that property or did your wife just say you can use it ????
about time LOL !!!!
Call me a pessimist but does this really qualify as a tree house? Seems like a raised clubhouse to me. Sorry that im mr negativity but tree house usually means its supported by a tree growing through it. Seems like this is just suspended on wood pillars. Still cool! Just not sure it can be called a tree house. Also this is the first episode ive watched so im sorry if ive missed some explanation to this concern.
I hereby coin that "The Missing Tree House" 😂 😂
Yeah. Well…yeah.
Thanks!
Ivor must be the luckiest boy alive to have such an awesome , fun dad. Good onya mate as we say here in Australia.
I had a tough day. Thanks for making me smile.
When did you adopt Iv… uh… I mean, when did you hire the foreman? 😁🥰
I wish you were my dad!
"Kids don't stay kids forever"…. AMEN! You are 100% spot on right. We as a society need to get back to letting kids be kids. I don't often comment, but I Love your videos.
Ivor is one lucky boy!
The sentiment at the end—I had to teach a foster child how to "play"—broke my heart. The kid had never been turned loose to just act out whatever they could think up—a literal Amelia Bedelia.
If you use a come-along instead of the turn buckle, you can take the zipline out of tension or tighten it much more easily.
Very nice job. Thanks for sharing.
Great project. Running water, flusher and electricity and you can rent it out as a neat B'n"B' for $1K a night.
For some reason I don't think you got that bucket from HD.
When I was a kid I would have loved a tree house like this. Would've put a TV in there to play some N64
The Chicken/Fish dilemma has one answer and that answer is Fried Pork Cutlet…
Is that Bill's mom shouting that Fat Albert is stuck in the slide?
My brother and I decided to build a zip line (There were no zip lines in those days). We got some old 14/2 wire and a pully from a something and then set it up. We never tried it. Smarter than we looked! Circa 1967?
That's no treehouse, thats an ADU
Wow just WOW
A word to the wise about the tire swing. It might be 'beneficial' to install some padding on the concrete footings.
I know me and my friends would always try and spin the swing as fast as we could, faster than we should some times too.
Great video and project as always Jason, cheers!
Thank you for the comments at the end of the video.I am 75 but when my brothers and I were kids the last place we wanted to be was in the house.
get dirty and be alive !
merci Jason
Wauw, that is a cool treehouse! And how does your track stick vertically? Magic??
It looks to me like you've installed those cable clamps (crosby clamps) incorrectly. The ubolt should be installed so the end of the cable is under the u-bend, not under the nut side.
