Six Colorectal Cancer Prevention Tips
Colorectal cancer is one of the most common types of cancer in the United States. It is estimated that more than 140,000 people will be diagnosed with colorectal cancer in 2020. Fortunately, there are steps you can take to reduce your risk of developing this type of cancer. Here are six colorectal cancer prevention tips to help you stay healthy.
1. Get Screened Regularly
One of the best ways to reduce your risk of colorectal cancer is to get screened regularly. The American Cancer Society recommends that people at average risk of colorectal cancer begin screening at age 45. If you have a family history of colorectal cancer, you may need to start screening earlier. Talk to your doctor about the best screening schedule for you.
2. Eat a Healthy Diet
Eating a healthy diet is one of the best ways to reduce your risk of colorectal cancer. Focus on eating plenty of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Limit your intake of red and processed meats, as these have been linked to an increased risk of colorectal cancer.
3. Exercise Regularly
Regular physical activity can help reduce your risk of colorectal cancer. Aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise most days of the week. This can include activities like walking, jogging, swimming, or biking.
4. Avoid Smoking and Excessive Alcohol Consumption
Smoking and excessive alcohol consumption can increase your risk of colorectal cancer. If you smoke, talk to your doctor about ways to quit. If you drink alcohol, do so in moderation. The American Cancer Society recommends that men have no more than two drinks per day and women have no more than one drink per day.
5. Maintain a Healthy Weight
Being overweight or obese can increase your risk of colorectal cancer. To maintain a healthy weight, focus on eating a healthy diet and getting regular physical activity. Talk to your doctor if you need help developing a weight loss plan.
6. Reduce Stress
Stress can have a negative impact on your health, so itβs important to find ways to reduce stress in your life. This can include activities like yoga, meditation, or spending time with friends and family.

This is good information right now. We just find out that my Mom have colon cancer. And I'm not sure if this is gonna help her. The doctor said its malignant . I don't know what to do at this point. But I think my family will decide after the CT scan, either she's gonna have a surgery or not. She 89 years old by the way.
