Sustainable Life Hacks | Tips to Start Low Waste Living
Living a sustainable lifestyle is becoming increasingly important in today’s world. With the effects of climate change becoming more and more apparent, it’s important to take steps to reduce our environmental impact. One way to do this is to start living a low waste lifestyle. Here are some sustainable life hacks to help you get started.
1. Reusable Shopping Bags
One of the easiest ways to reduce your waste is to switch to reusable shopping bags. Instead of using plastic bags, opt for reusable bags made from materials such as cotton, jute, or canvas. These bags are not only better for the environment, but they are also more durable and can be used for years.
2. Bring Your Own Containers
Another great way to reduce your waste is to bring your own containers when you go shopping. This is especially useful when buying bulk items such as grains, nuts, and dried fruits. Instead of using the store’s plastic bags, bring your own containers and fill them up with the items you need. This will help you avoid using unnecessary plastic packaging.
3. Buy in Bulk
Buying in bulk is another great way to reduce your waste. Instead of buying small packages of items, buy larger quantities and store them in reusable containers. This will help you avoid buying multiple packages of the same item, which will reduce the amount of packaging waste you produce.
4. Shop Secondhand
Shopping secondhand is a great way to reduce your waste and save money. Instead of buying new items, look for secondhand items that are still in good condition. This will help you avoid buying new items that require packaging and will also help you save money.
5. Compost
Composting is a great way to reduce your waste and help the environment. Instead of throwing away food scraps and other organic materials, compost them and use them as fertilizer for your garden. This will help you reduce the amount of waste you produce and will also help you create nutrient-rich soil for your plants.
6. Use Reusable Water Bottles
Using reusable water bottles is another great way to reduce your waste. Instead of buying plastic water bottles, opt for reusable bottles made from materials such as stainless steel or glass. This will help you avoid using single-use plastic bottles and will also help you save money in the long run.
7. Avoid Single-Use Plastics
Single-use plastics are one of the biggest contributors to environmental waste. Whenever possible, try to avoid using single-use plastics such as straws, utensils, and bags. Opt for reusable alternatives such as metal straws, bamboo utensils, and cloth bags. This will help you reduce your waste and help the environment.
8. Buy Local
Buying local is another great way to reduce your waste. Instead of buying items that have been shipped from far away, opt for items that are produced locally. This will help you avoid using unnecessary packaging and will also help support local businesses.
9. Repair and Reuse
Repairing and reusing items is another great way to reduce your waste. Instead of throwing away items that are broken or worn out, try to repair them and use them for as long as possible. This will help you avoid buying new items and will also help you save money.
10. Reduce Your Meat Consumption
Reducing your meat consumption is another great way to reduce your environmental impact. Eating less meat will help reduce the amount of resources used to produce it and will also help reduce the amount of waste produced.

Love this video! I would also add meal prep as a tip, especially if you’re going out (not to eat) otherwise you’ll probably end up eating out do to lack of preparation – saves you money, avoids single use plastics, and it can be healthier too!
I’ve been convincing my mom to mix in mushroom with meats, my family are carnivores and love mushrooms so not only am I saving money on meat, we use half the meat we usually eat, we eat more mushroom

I live in developing country, and I think people in developed country like America, South Korea, and Japan, they look like they’re having a lot of waste. For example, Americans drink water in a plastic bottle even at their home? I even don’t buy plastic beverages while I’m out. I refill my cup. I hope people understand that we’re living in a world with limited resources. 😢 And I appreciate that you’re sharing sustainable living
Thank you for showing how small things can be changed based on what fits your lifestyle.
There are some great ideas here. You lost me with the acetone though. That stuff stinks and is pretty toxic, particularly in high doses (which I know is not indicated here.).

I so appreciate your emphasis on making sure the changes we make in our life are sustainable for us! And affordable too. And also that if we have something like an electric toothbrush, there’s no need to feel bad about not using bamboo brushes

Lemon oil removes the sticky substance super easy without having to use a chemical. 😊
Great ideas you have! Thanks
I want to be more sustainable and reduce my waste but it is difficult. My question is, is being vegetarian also good for the environment? Everyone says vegan, even tho I could be vegan when I am older it doesn’t really seem like something for me. I want to be either a pescatarian or vegetarian mostly because I like eggs and yoghurt.
Thank you for this video ❤️ I have been trying to be more sustainable recently, and this was very helpful. 🌱
Love this <3 trying to do all of it! #savetheworld 🌍
I started thinking more about the environment after going vegan and people kept asking me if I went vegan for the environment or the animals or health reasons lmao. I went vegan for the animals btw.
THINK ABOUT THIS… It should be obvious to you that if we stick with sustainable living habits, eventually some businesses will go out of business. Container businesses, of course, but other businesses as well. That means we will not have to boycott them in order to put them out of business. And if we sustain this progress, we will eventually see life returned to the old days when we were much wiser and healthier.
Electronic toothbrushes are for people who are too lazy to brush their teeth using their own muscles.
We can reuse the twist ties, though. If you have a local farmers market, some farms will take any twist ties, rubber bands, or bread clips you have leftover. Same with egg cartons. My mother in law takes all those things to our local farm and they give her a minor discount and reuse her items to bind less desirable food for the discount bin and reuse the egg cartons.
My local farm also makes their own pickles, sauces, salsa, jelly, and honey. So they’ll take our used glass jars and reuse them, and they’ll take plastic honey bears to wash and reuse. (EDIT)
🌱 I've watched this video a couple of times, I really like the way you explain it, in a non-pressured way. I'd definitely watch any new videos you make about sustainability. They're very informative & set out in a really genuine & accessible way. Thanks for creating this series!
I have a cat and I usually have to use a plastic bag to clean his litter box. Is there by chance any alternatives to this? If so I would very much appreciate it.
One thing I absolutely recommend is buying a clean paint roller tray (the ones with a ramp/slope) and fill it with cold water and put it on top of a shed roof of somewhere high they can reach, they LOVE bathing in it when it's hot, i always see a small family of birds coming to it, make sure to clean and refill the tray, though!
Thank you for this video. Feels refreshing that this video is focused on changing mindsets and habits rather than buying new products.

Love this video 🥺♥️
I'm watching this because our mother earth needs some help right now #LetTheEarthBreathe
Great advice that I can actually do!!!
I love this video. Thank you!
What kind of toothbrush and water flosser do you use and do you like it?
Soaking anything in straight vinegar for awhile can help remove labels!! I do this all the time with pickle jars!
Thank you for this. Seriously.
This was a really good video miss. The editing on point. The tone of your voice. The content. The way you laid it out. Good stuff ty. It’s almost becoming a war within me to switch over to a much more sustainable lifestyle. I can’t in good conscious keep living this way. And I am feeling enriched by wanting to make these changes. I would also like to homestead in a very rural area someday so I will need to live sustainably.
I find it so odd that in the US everything is bagged in plastic
"Don't just tell them, show them "
That's why I like this video
I love how you emphasize being conscious in our decisions..being mindful! This is what I call living intentionally. Thank you! Subscribed so quick!
May I ask what you use to remove makeup? I've tried almond oil and coconut oil but they leave my eyes blurred. I have re usable wipes xx
Do you have more videos like this?
As someone with disabilities I struggle to make meals to feed myself so like you’ve decided the electric toothbrush is necessary, I’ve had to decide that premade meals is just something I have to live with bc I don’t have the energy to prepare and cook a meal. I’ve started replacing other things as I need them tho. I appreciatethat you mentioned some things that you choose to use bc you think it’s worth the waste so thanks
Sustainable tampons and deodorant that I use: Daye Tampons (also available with CBD for menstrual cramps) with packaging that dissolves in water, and Wild deodorants, you get your first one with a metal reusable case and then order refills for it.
Dose any one remember being poor and living this way because it was essential?
How the he'll did poor habits become super cool and mainstream?
Ok so i have to ask. How do you keep your electric toothbrush clean? After i brush, water pools all around the base and creates gunk, do you simple constantly dry it off in a towel?
Great job, sister. Hopefully you will also gradually replace all your plastic clothes with natural ones. Merino will rock your world.

Those Mac and Cheese looked delicious.🤤
🌱thank u so much this helped me so much💓🥰
I’ve moved to microfiber towels for cleaning so I no longer buy paper towels, grove cleaning concentrates for more earth and human friendly cleaning. I’m trying to slowly start doing my part. Next is buying reusable ziplock bags instead of plastic ones. And reusable shopping bags 💕 it’s not much but I’m proud of my start. I have 3 kids so convenience is always enticing, but I want to do my part in helping the planet 💕🙏🏻
Great video
Awesome tips ty! Is there a part 2 since this video is old, also the b-roll was awesome thanks for the video part of this too.. super important
