How To Make Soy Candles DIY Candle Making Tutorial
Making your own soy candles is a great way to add a unique touch to your home. Not only are they beautiful, but they are also eco-friendly and easy to make. With a few simple ingredients and some basic tools, you can create your own soy candles in no time. This DIY candle making tutorial will show you how to make soy candles from start to finish.
What You Will Need
Before you get started, you will need to gather the following supplies:
- Soy wax flakes
- Candle wicks
- Essential oils (optional)
- Candle dye (optional)
- Double boiler
- Glass jars
- Thermometer
- Scissors
- Glue gun
Step 1: Prepare the Jars
The first step in making your soy candles is to prepare the jars. Start by cleaning the jars with warm, soapy water and drying them thoroughly. Then, cut the wicks to the desired length and glue them to the bottom of the jars using a glue gun. Make sure the wicks are centered and secure.
Step 2: Melt the Wax
Next, you will need to melt the wax. Place the wax flakes in a double boiler and heat until the wax is completely melted. Use a thermometer to monitor the temperature of the wax and make sure it does not exceed 180°F.
Step 3: Add Color and Scent
Once the wax is melted, you can add color and scent to your candles. If you are using essential oils, add a few drops to the melted wax and stir until combined. If you are using candle dye, add a few drops of the dye and stir until combined.
Step 4: Pour the Wax
Once the wax is colored and scented, it is time to pour it into the jars. Make sure the wicks are centered and secure before pouring the wax. Slowly pour the wax into the jars, filling them to the desired level.
Step 5: Let the Candles Cool
Once the wax is poured, let the candles cool for at least 24 hours. This will allow the wax to harden and the candles to set. Once the candles are cooled, trim the wicks to the desired length and your candles are ready to use.

I would like to understand more on how to measure out wax for a candle glass jar that is 14.5 oz For about 6 candles
Thank you for the precise information, very well done.
😏very nice ❤
So what’s the temperature for pouring on the containers.
185,135-140
Enjoyed your video! Never realized how easy making candles could be! I do have some questions: is there a chart/guide for how much wax you need for different sized containers? Same question for using liquid fragrance oils for different amounts of wax? How do you add decorative dried herbs/flowers to wax, and can you make another demo video for that? I like the look of dried lavender, rose petals, and dried herbs in candles-so pretty! Thank you!
So I’ve purchased a couple thousand dollars worth of candle making supplies from you, and I’m running into all kinds of issues with sinkholes and texture. The suggested pouring temp of 135 seems to be way too high, it doesn’t get cloudy until about 100 degrees, and I’m still getting sinkholes in almost every candle. I’ve heard this is a problem with 100% soy. Any advice?
What kind of soy wax do you use?
Hi mam
My soy candles won't burn. Can someone help me and tell me why? They are puddling and put out the wick.

I want to make wax melt . Is there a difference between wax melt and candle?

If you want to add more than one scent to one candle, do you have to split them all up to equal 1 oz if you are melting one pound of wax?
Loved the video very simple – I wanted to ask about what is in the mix for the essence looked like a whole lot of liquid going in there – is that a mix of alcohol and essence?
Thank you 🙂
How much would you sell that lavender candle for??
Can you make a free standing soy candle or do they always need to be supported?
Are you supposed to use a different pot for every scent?
Yes I will definitely get my oils from you for trying to make candles with my mom for the first time
Can anyone explain the difference in wicks? When I'm shopping pre-tabbed wicks, they all have an item code like. CD 12, CD 16, CD 20, etc. The product description does not specify any difference when I compare them.
Hannah new video pls❤
I miss you girl ❤
women are insane, but so cute. amiable
I started making mine at home and it's way cheaper than buying them. I got the kit from Amazon and I buy the best essential oils, now I'm doing floating candles in water.
How long will this candles burn for?
Loved the video and was super excited to try your candle kit but I found at check out that you don’t ship internationally.
Sincerely,
Sadness from Canada
So do you have different pots for different fragrances? Or do you use the same one for all?
hello, we produce scented candles. When the lids of the jars with lids remain closed, a paraffin smell fills the mouth. How can we solve this?
So are you saying that you get the wax from soybeans that are organic and GMO free?
Hi, I've made exactly like your video, but my candle doesn't smell at all. Any thought?
I'd like to make about ten- 5oz candles with different scents. You added 1ounce bottle of lavender to 1 pound of wax. Any idea how many "drops" of scent I can add to each 5oz container?
My favorite candle scents were from a company that is no longer in business. I want to make my own candles and would like to recreate the scents. One is a lilac and the other is sunflower. Any tips on how to make those scents?
What price do you charge on those size candles?
Thanks for clarification. A good question. Please let me know why when we put the wax in a glassy jar, after some hours, some cracks appears on the glass? It is not clear that much. The walls of jars seems cloudy. please guide me
Dr. Hannah Straight!…….😂…….you wear many hats……..
why did you add your fragrance at 195? and not at 185? and why didn't you stir for 2 -3 minutes?
