A Beginners Guide To Making A Candle
Making a candle is a fun and rewarding activity that anyone can do. Whether you’re looking to make a special gift for someone or just want to make something unique for yourself, making a candle is a great way to express your creativity. In this guide, we’ll walk you through the basics of making a candle, from gathering the supplies to pouring the wax.
Gathering Supplies
The first step in making a candle is to gather the supplies you’ll need. You’ll need wax, a wick, a container, and any fragrance or color you’d like to add. For wax, you can use either paraffin or soy wax. Paraffin wax is the most common type of wax used for making candles, and it’s easy to find in craft stores. Soy wax is a more natural option, and it’s becoming increasingly popular.
Next, you’ll need a wick. You can find pre-made wicks at craft stores, or you can make your own using cotton string. If you’re making your own wick, make sure it’s long enough to reach the bottom of your container.
Finally, you’ll need a container for your candle. You can use any type of container you like, from a mason jar to a teacup. Just make sure the container is heat-resistant and won’t melt when the wax is poured.
Melting the Wax
Once you’ve gathered all your supplies, it’s time to melt the wax. You can do this either on the stove or in the microwave. If you’re using the stove, make sure to use a double boiler to prevent the wax from burning. If you’re using the microwave, heat the wax in short bursts and stir it in between each burst.
Once the wax is melted, you can add any fragrance or color you’d like. If you’re using fragrance, make sure to use a candle-safe fragrance oil. If you’re using color, you can use either liquid or powder dyes.
Pouring the Wax
Once the wax is melted and any fragrance or color has been added, it’s time to pour the wax into the container. Before you do this, make sure the wick is in place. You can either tie the wick to a pencil and rest it across the top of the container, or you can use a wick holder.
Once the wick is in place, slowly pour the wax into the container. Make sure to pour slowly and evenly, so the wax doesn’t overflow. Once the wax has cooled and hardened, you can trim the wick and your candle is ready to use.

I am a first timer..thank for sharing..I have to try making candles very soon..God blessed your knowledge..🙏💯💃🎉💰👀
Love it..ty! I would like to reuse the classy $ candles I have, make some of them plain white or ivory. Doesn't have to have a scent. I use them for show and use regular candles for each seaon and year round. But love some that are plain white, almost ivory (off white) to refill some …maybe one "fancy $" candle hard to find candle I would burn a short while lol. I know it may sound silly but I love the labels/the look of many I own, and on some and they do not come off, I wish to keep them in it's original holder. Thanks for any help. I will order this kit b/c it looks like so much fun!
