Making Gold Plated Jewelry – Jewelry Tutorial
Gold plated jewelry is a great way to add a touch of luxury to any outfit. It is also a great way to make a statement without breaking the bank. Gold plating is a process that involves coating a base metal with a thin layer of gold. This layer of gold is usually only a few microns thick, but it can still give the jewelry a beautiful, luxurious look.
In this tutorial, we will be discussing the basics of gold plating jewelry. We will cover the materials and tools you will need, the process of gold plating, and some tips and tricks to help you get the best results. So, let’s get started!
Materials and Tools
The first step in gold plating jewelry is to gather the materials and tools you will need. The most important materials are the base metal and the gold plating solution. The base metal can be any metal, such as copper, brass, or silver. The gold plating solution is a chemical solution that contains gold ions.
In addition to the base metal and gold plating solution, you will also need some other tools and materials. These include a container for the gold plating solution, a brush for applying the solution, and a power source for the plating process.
The Plating Process
Once you have all of your materials and tools, you are ready to begin the gold plating process. The first step is to prepare the base metal. This involves cleaning the metal with a mild detergent and water, and then drying it thoroughly.
Once the metal is clean and dry, it is time to apply the gold plating solution. This is done by using the brush to apply the solution to the metal. The solution should be applied in a thin, even layer.
Once the solution has been applied, the metal needs to be connected to a power source. This will cause a reaction between the gold ions in the solution and the metal, resulting in a thin layer of gold being deposited on the metal.
The final step is to remove the metal from the power source and rinse it off with water. This will remove any excess solution and leave you with a beautiful, gold plated piece of jewelry.
Tips and Tricks
Gold plating jewelry can be a tricky process, but there are some tips and tricks that can help you get the best results. The first tip is to make sure that the metal is clean and dry before applying the gold plating solution. This will ensure that the solution is able to bond properly with the metal.
Another tip is to use a low voltage power source for the plating process. This will help to ensure that the gold plating is even and consistent.
Finally, it is important to rinse the metal off with water after the plating process is complete. This will help to remove any excess solution and ensure that the gold plating is even and consistent.

رائع جدا 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
This was simply fabulous!!!! I was told you had to plate nickel first to plate gold onto silver. I'm still learning obviously!!! Hehehe
Nice work, I would have prefered if the stone was higher up or protruding more.
What art
Awesome…my next project before Parkinsons takes hold..
Seeing the level of a master craftsman is amazing to me. Im a novice and am learning the soldering and its such an overlooked aspect until your the one doing it. These small details make the difference. Truly a pleasure to watch. Small insights each time I watch this or another video.
Wow this gentleman is a Master of his craft
How can I have you make me some jewelry! Your nice bro
What is that sticker name?
oh my god i'd love to do this and get into making jewelry out of metal materials but due personal reasons im unable to, id have to have a full time job five – six days a week in order to even afford the tools, and by the time i'd get home from a long shift of hours i'd be too exhausted to do all that smithing work. on top of that mess on my days off id probably be too busy with my family to really even have time for it and so the metal materials i planned on purchasing would either get bought and remain unused or i just wouldnt buy them. huh in my next life i wanna be born from a billionaire so i can do smithing all day long designing fancy homemade metal jewelrey to sell out to people. 😮💨 loved your video btw so ima give it a heart emoji. 💛
Fantasticooooooo
Jaha narayan hote vaha laxmi apane aap aati hai vaha kuch karane ki jarurt nahi hoti hame sirf narayan ko hi magana hai
is there a math to how much gold needed to dissolve? What’s the % leftover gold in liquid? Do you collect the leftover?

Con baño electrolitico, que buena tecnica.
Beautiful work.
As a chemical engineer, i was stunned that you used electrochemistry to dissolve gold and then re apply it on the silver ring, smart work!
Mantap
