How To Make The Perfect Seafood Boil Bag At Home
Seafood boils are a popular way to enjoy a variety of seafood in one meal. They are easy to make and can be customized to suit any taste. Making a seafood boil bag at home is a great way to enjoy a delicious seafood meal without having to go out to a restaurant. Here are some tips on how to make the perfect seafood boil bag at home.
Gather Your Ingredients
The first step in making a seafood boil bag is to gather all of the ingredients you will need. You will need a variety of seafood, such as shrimp, crab, mussels, clams, and lobster. You will also need vegetables, such as potatoes, corn, and onions. You will also need seasonings, such as Old Bay, garlic, and lemon. Finally, you will need a large pot and a large bag to hold all of the ingredients.
Prepare the Seafood
Once you have gathered all of the ingredients, it is time to prepare the seafood. Start by rinsing the seafood in cold water. Then, peel and devein the shrimp, and remove the shells from the crab and lobster. Finally, cut the potatoes into small cubes and the onions into thin slices.
Mix the Seasonings
Once the seafood and vegetables are prepared, it is time to mix the seasonings. Start by combining the Old Bay, garlic, and lemon in a small bowl. Then, add a few tablespoons of water to the mixture and stir until it is well combined.
Assemble the Bag
Now it is time to assemble the bag. Start by placing the potatoes and onions in the bottom of the bag. Then, add the seafood and vegetables. Finally, pour the seasoning mixture over the top of the ingredients.
Cook the Bag
Once the bag is assembled, it is time to cook it. Place the bag in a large pot and fill the pot with enough water to cover the ingredients. Bring the water to a boil and then reduce the heat to a simmer. Simmer the bag for about 20 minutes, or until the seafood is cooked through.
Serve the Bag
Once the bag is cooked, it is time to serve it. Carefully remove the bag from the pot and place it on a large platter. Serve the seafood boil with melted butter, lemon wedges, and hot sauce. Enjoy!

I am concerned with the health impact of cooking food in plastic bags especially the low quality ones. Even with no BPA, they release chemicals which affect your body when heated possibly causing hormones disbalance and perhaps cancer.

Why boil in a plastic bag though? Microplastics are real. Boil in a stock pot, friend! Then take your shellfish shells and the broth in the pot and put it in your slowcooker overnight and make a real nice stock for soup the next day!
