Feng Shui Do’s and Don’ts for the Bedroom | Avoid these Taboos! | Julie Khuu
Feng Shui is an ancient Chinese practice that is based on the idea that the arrangement of objects in a space can affect the energy flow and bring good luck and fortune. It is believed that the bedroom is the most important room in the house, as it is where we spend most of our time. Therefore, it is important to be mindful of the Feng Shui do’s and don’ts when it comes to the bedroom.
Feng Shui Do’s for the Bedroom
The first step to creating a harmonious bedroom is to ensure that the bed is in the right position. The bed should be placed in the command position, which is the farthest corner from the door. This will allow you to have a clear view of the door and the rest of the room.
The next step is to make sure that the bed is not placed directly in line with the door. This is known as the “death position” and is believed to bring bad luck. Instead, the bed should be placed at an angle to the door.
The bed should also be placed away from any windows, as this can cause too much energy to enter the room. Additionally, the bed should not be placed directly under a beam or a sloping ceiling, as this can cause feelings of oppression.
The bed should also be placed on a solid base, such as a platform bed or a bed frame. This will ensure that the energy is not blocked and can flow freely.
Feng Shui Don’ts for the Bedroom
When it comes to the bedroom, there are certain things that should be avoided in order to create a harmonious space.
The first thing to avoid is clutter. Clutter can block the energy flow and create feelings of stress and anxiety. Therefore, it is important to keep the bedroom neat and tidy.
The next thing to avoid is having too many mirrors in the bedroom. Mirrors can reflect too much energy and create feelings of restlessness.
It is also important to avoid having too many electronics in the bedroom. Electronics can create too much energy and can disrupt sleep.
Finally, it is important to avoid having too much red in the bedroom. Red is a very stimulating color and can create feelings of agitation.
Conclusion
By following the Feng Shui do’s and don’ts for the bedroom, you can create a harmonious and peaceful space. By avoiding clutter, mirrors, electronics, and red, you can ensure that the energy in the bedroom is balanced and that you can get a good night’s sleep.

A video of Feng Shui for kids rooms would be great. Children usually have the smaller room, making it a little more challenging with the placement of the bed.
Hi Julie, thank you for your video. Can I have a crystal chandelier above my bed? Will that consider as bad Feng Shui?
Hello Julie,
I love your show I was quite interested in how do you spoke about the doors please can you please clarify for me adore with all glass or some glass will not let the positive energy come in? Should your front door be of solid material?
What am I supposed to do if my closet is those stupid mirrored sliding doors? It's a rental apartment so I'm not allowed to remove and change them.
The best placement for my bed is correct, and there's actually no other position that's good. So I'm stuck with the foot of my bed facing those dumb closet doors.
I don't know what I could do to fix this?
Good
Thank you yes love this type of info
How does having a day bed affect my bedroom?
It is not good to have anything above the headboard at all. From a practicality standpoint, we have earthquakes here in California. That sharp pointed round thing I saw can literally fall on you.
Hi Julie- Thank you for your expertise on bed placement. I need help with designing my new room. The door opens on the right, and the only place the bed fits is in the corner, under the AC/Heather. I want an open breezy experience that is an extension of the outdoors. I have sliding glass doors on one wall, which I want to accentuate. Any suggestions?
Thank you for this video. I noticed that in some of your samples, rectangular and square night stands are used. They are pointing to the bed.
I have a high rise bed and my night stand is as tall as the mattress… same height of the bed from floor. Please comment on this. Thank you.
Have you got any tips for having s baby cot in the room with your bed and how to position things?
Great video, thank you! I am still confused about the command position of the bed in the bedroom. You said not to have the feet pointing toward the door yet in the quiz, that was also a correct position. Please let me know! Thank you!
Thank you so much for great advice. This is very helpful. Thanks.
Especially with murphy beds?
So many of us live in studios. So how do you consider bedroom guidelines and living area guidelines when they are within the same 4 walls?
The command positions for my bedroom have my head pointing to the northwest (solid wall) or northeast (under a window). Also, directly at my feet on my side of the bed is an open door to an on-suite bathroom, and pointing right at the toilet, if the bed is in command position #1. Would you recommend moving the bed to command position #2 and dealing with window coverings instead? We have such horrible trouble sleeping. I cannot fathom who created this space.
Thank you it's been helpful ❤️❤️❤️
I've heard that the head facing the North isn't good. How do I cure that?
Very informative. Loved it. Thank you.
But if you are Aquarius waterbearer and feel calm looking at water pictures I guess thats ok because it is about how it makes you feel ❤
Hi..I thought N direction of rooms is for flowing water like aquarium or pictures of active water..is that not applicable for bedroom?
Thanks..love the series!
I see this video is 2yrs old but hoping for some insight. My bedroom is a long rectangle with only two walls to place the bed against. An ideal bed placement would be in-between two windows diagonal from the door. The issue is the bed would cover a floor vent, blowing cold and hot air onto one side of the bed. How would you handle furniture layouts with floor vents in the way.
Great tips
Hi Julie! Is it bad to surround your bed with cabinets…like those modern designs, to maximize space?
how to fix it when the bed is in front of door, so far it is rental house so cannot move the design.
Follow all your suggestions. It worked for me. Took all mirrors out of bedroom. Problem. I have a large bedroom with two swinging doors, facing my bed. No way I can move this king bed anywhere else, if I place a pretty small blanket on an ottoman in front of the bed, would that help?
Meanwhile I keep thinking the bed is under the window
well my room is very anti Feng shui 😭
Thanks
I disagree about the mirror thing lol
Trying to rearrange is making me loony, but I need to. Ug! I need help. Can a single/twin bed have one side along a wall? Should it have symmetric nightstands? Can a bed position facing a bathroom door be corrected? Is it better to have the head of the bed under a window, or facing a bathroom door?
