Gathering Your Supplies
Before you get started, you’ll need to gather your supplies. You’ll need the Easy Street Simply Delightful Junior Jelly Rolls, a sewing machine, thread, scissors, and a quilting ruler. You’ll also need a cutting mat and rotary cutter if you’d like to cut your fabric strips into smaller pieces.
Preparing the Fabric Strips
Once you have all of your supplies, you’ll need to prepare the fabric strips. Start by laying out the fabric strips in the order that you’d like them to appear in the quilt. Then, use the quilting ruler to measure and cut the strips into the desired size. If you’d like to cut the strips into smaller pieces, you can use the cutting mat and rotary cutter.
Sewing the Quilt Top
Now that you’ve prepared the fabric strips, it’s time to start sewing the quilt top. Start by laying out the strips in the order that you’d like them to appear in the quilt. Then, use the sewing machine to sew the strips together. Make sure to backstitch at the beginning and end of each seam to ensure that the quilt top is secure.
Adding the Quilt Backing
Once you’ve finished sewing the quilt top, it’s time to add the quilt backing. Start by laying out the quilt backing fabric on a flat surface. Then, place the quilt top on top of the backing fabric and pin it in place. Finally, use the sewing machine to sew the quilt top and backing together.
Quilting the Quilt
The final step in creating the Trustfall quilt is to quilt it. Start by laying out the quilt on a flat surface and pinning it in place. Then, use the sewing machine to quilt the quilt in the desired pattern. Once you’ve finished quilting the quilt, you can add a binding to the edges to give it a finished look.
Finishing the Quilt
Once you’ve finished quilting the quilt, it’s time to finish it. Start by trimming any excess fabric from the edges of the quilt. Then, use the sewing machine to sew a binding around the edges of the quilt. Finally, use the quilting ruler to measure and cut the binding to the desired size.

The best Mother’s Day gift I ever received was May 8, 2011. My son was born ❤. At the time I didn’t realize it was also the best Mother’s Day gift I ever gave my mom – but my Mom passed away in 2012 and she spent much of her illness holding my son. So he was a gift for both of us. My Mom told me numerous times during that year what a treasure and delight it was to know her grandson.
The best Mother’s Day gift I gave to my mom was a vintage handkerchief quilt made with grandmas hankies!
Happy Mother’s Day to all the ladies, whether you are a momma or not! I know this is going to sound like I am sucking up but, I promise I am not. My favorite Mother’s Day gift was a gift certificate from FQS! I was able to hold on to it until I really knew what I wanted. I sure hope my kids do that again this year since there are sooooo many cute fabrics out that I really, really want.
My favorite gift I gave was flowering plants to my mom and mother in love. They both loved them and it was something they could enjoy all summer long. I hope you get your rose bushes and your garage cleaned too!
Great tip Kimberley to nudge the next strip back a bit and then trim each strip after it is sewn!!! I do not use jelly rolls that much because the bowing and inaccurate cutting drives me nuts. Thanks so much! This is definitely a tip I will use. 😁
The best gift I gave was a cross stitch table cloth I started when I was 14 found it in a bag and gave it to my mother 42 years later finished. The best I received was a needlepoint canvas of a cupcake my daughter gave me
Spending time with mom.
My best gift from my son was climbing roses bushes, "pretty in pink". They are beautiful.
Best gift- fabric!!!
You look marvelous in a dress! Don’t stop wearing them!!
I received a Mother’s Day gift one year that was a complete surprise. It was so thoughtful of my husband and my 3 children who all designed a Mothers ring for me. Happy Mothers Day!
Thank God for the blessing of being a mother.
“There’s always a solution.” Thanks for the encouragement, Kimberley.
Hi Kimberly, rhe best Mother's Day gift was actually a repeated gift for many years up until we moved to a new house at higher elevation were plants/flowers for my garden. This was a tradition all those many years. I was always so happy to fill all my pots and gardens with new flowers. Roses were always one of my choices and i had to leave my rose garden behind.
This year I gave my mom a framed print of a storm trooper (Star Wars) with Native American designs on the mask. It’s created by a Native artist! We’re a big Native family and she has always loved star wars. She LOVED it as much as I knew she would ♥️
I always make something for my mom, this year it’s a lap quilt and spring placemats.
For Mother’s Day I went to jewelry intensive class and handmade a mothers ring for each my mother and mother in law. The rings were silver with found stones that my son find while mining in the mountains of North Carolina at a young age. The facial expressions were priceless. A great day🎉
Very simply, the best Mother's Day gift was not having to make dinner/clean up after!
Best Mother’s Day gift: all the children painted a rock and she added them to her garden.
Absolutely YES to batiks. I love Kaffe Fasset fabrics but don’t know how/what to make with them.
My best mother's day gift(s) were the ones my children made while they were in elementary school – usually the gifts had photos of them. Those were the best!
The best Mother's Day gift I ever got turned 25 on May 10 – my second child! Such a happy day!
I love puzzles and Legos. One of my favorite Mother’s Day gifts was when my daughter gave me a “bouquet of flowers”, but they were Legos and I had to build them. So fun!!!
My best gift is a Vermont pregnant bear, my husband gave it to me when I was pregnant in my first mother’s day, 19 years ago, I still have it.
Well one year Mother’s Day was the day I gave birth to my daughter. That’s the best gift I got and I gave,20 hours 40 minute labor.
Omg Emma is beautiful. She is taller than you so fun watching your children grow. Thank you for sharing
That is so cute! A fun pillow❤️❤️! I think a dna profile should be done on every baby born and entered into a data base. No dead body would ever be unidentified again! No evidence left on a murdered body or a raped person or a criminally abused persons body would go unidentified again. Ancestry sites have been amazing in solving long unsolved cases and they could do so much more if they would let authorities in!
Love it when my son and his wife come for Mothers Day and cook a wonderful meal for me.
What pins does Kimberly use? Mine are long and dull. I need new ones. Does the Primitive 1/4 inch foot fit on a Viking sewing machine? ❤️
The best Mother’s Day gift I received was when my daughter told
me I was going to be Grandma. I just found out that that grand baby who is now 23 is going to make me a Great grandma. I am so happy!❤
I love the new format of the Livestream! My best Mother’s Day gift was a quilt kit (duh! Lol).
When you are measuring to trim the sewn strips, are you measuring a 1/4 inch away from the sewn seam?
My best Mother’s Day is when my children and grandchildren comes to visit me. Love them all!
The best gift I ever received (besides my four kids) was a lilac bush for my very first Mother’s Day. It’s now 32 years old! The best gift I’ve ever given was a day of house cleaning to my daughter who has a two year old and a newborn. She just had to go back to work so she was thrilled to get all the housework taken care of.
My best Mother's Day was my first. I honestly don't remember what my husband got me, i was just so happy to finally be a mom!
This Mothers Day – I’m giving my mom the completed Prairie Seeds runner I made – she loved it so much as I was making it and I know she will be surprised!!
Too long
My only child, a boy was born on Mother’s Day! What a blessing he has been in my life – and given me three fabulous grandsons! Loved your live stream today.
Best Mothers Day gift for my 90 year old mom, flowers everytime!!! I will do outside planters this year for her to enjoy! Best Mothers Day gift for me was my son 31 years ago ❤
I definitely purchase batiks over other fabrics.
The best Mother's Day gift I gave was a pillow I made my mom years and years ago. I like the idea of asking for the garage cleaning, though 🙂
With kids growing up, most mothers day's were wonderful. I would say the Mother's Day that I am most grateful for is the one spent with Mom before she passed away. I planted azalea's and lantana's for her to look at from her window, she loved flowers. Thank you Kimberly, for your videos and how you share the importance of family!
hi Kimberley I just have to tell you that as a christian mother who does not allow anything in our home to do with murder and death it is distressing to once again sit down with my daughters to learn about quilting and have your passion for murder shows/podcasts discussed!! Yes I know from a previous rant that it is YOUR show and what you want goes..period..However such a shame it cant be a show for all quilters…
I got to pick fabric for Mother’s Day. Woo-hoo
I've had so many great mother's day gifts over the years, but the most recent has been a gift certificate from FQS from my son:)
My son made a picture of a flower for me! Homemade gifts are the best!
Yay! So excited for the Tula project!
My favorite Mother’s Day gift I have given is handmade table runners to my mom and mother in law. They loved them and I loved making them!
Also, are you going to do a liberty box again?
The best Mother's Day gift I got this year is from my husband. He got me the tomato quilt seeds by the Lori Holt quilt seeds from the fat quarter shop; and time tomorrow work on finishing my daughter's quilt (a brightly color Jacob's ladder)! I think the best gift I gave my mom taking her to a nice lunch or dinner. Celebrating her because she was always there to support me when I was a child. Now that I am a mother myself; I prefer time together with my children in the morning, and then quiet time alone in the afternoon to work on my current project. I don't want a huge fuss. Just quality time with kids, and quality time that is doing something for me. My family always makes an effort to make my day the way I enjoy it.
The best Mothers Day gift I received was a hanging plant holder from our son…then every year he buys a beautiful hanging basket for it
I loved this show May 12th. You’re so genuine, generous, and gorgeous… I liked how you teach us precise sewing, not sure if I swing that way, although I use many of your techniques I’ve learned. I will try You looked gorgeous in your dress and you should wear more especially in the summer. Emma looks gorgeous and who cares what other people think, she’s young and beautiful and should be herself. I’m looking forward to new format. See you on Tuesday.
Love your shows!! Glad I am not the only one that makes mistakes! Lol. The best Mothers Day gifts are the ones that are handmade by the kids. Other than flowers that they planted at school I still have all the ones my kids made!! I love handmade!! Happy Mothers Day to everyone!!
