End of Year Homeschool Update

As the school year comes to a close, it’s time to reflect on the homeschooling journey we’ve been on. It’s been a year of ups and downs, successes and failures, and a lot of learning. We’ve tried out different curriculums, activities, and approaches to learning, and now it’s time to take a look back and see what worked and what didn’t.

What Worked

One of the biggest successes of the year was our use of online learning tools. We found that our children responded well to the structure and interactivity of online learning platforms. We used a variety of tools, including Khan Academy, ABCmouse, and IXL, and our children were able to learn and practice a variety of skills. We also found that our children enjoyed the challenge of completing online lessons and earning rewards for their efforts.

We also had success with hands-on activities. We found that our children responded well to activities that allowed them to explore and discover. We used a variety of materials, including art supplies, science kits, and building materials, to create projects and activities that were both educational and fun. Our children enjoyed the freedom to explore and create, and we were able to use these activities to reinforce the concepts they were learning.

What Didn’t Work

One of the biggest challenges we faced this year was finding the right balance between structure and freedom. We found that our children needed structure in order to stay focused and on task, but too much structure was stifling and made learning less enjoyable. We tried to find a balance between structure and freedom, but it was a challenge to find the right balance.

We also struggled to find the right curriculum for our children. We tried a variety of curriculums, but none of them seemed to fit our children’s needs. We found that some curriculums were too advanced for our children, while others were too basic. We eventually settled on a combination of online learning tools and hands-on activities, but it took some trial and error to find the right combination.

Conclusion

Overall, we had a successful year of homeschooling. We found that our children responded well to online learning tools and hands-on activities, and we were able to find the right balance between structure and freedom. We also learned that finding the right curriculum is a process of trial and error, and that it’s important to be flexible and willing to try new things.
