How We Homeschool Our Kids
Homeschooling is becoming increasingly popular as parents look for more control over their children’s education. We have been homeschooling our kids for the past five years and have found it to be a rewarding experience. In this article, we will discuss how we homeschool our kids, what curriculum we use, our daily rhythms, and more.
Choosing a Curriculum
The first step in homeschooling is choosing a curriculum. We chose a curriculum that is tailored to our children’s individual needs and interests. We looked for a curriculum that was comprehensive, engaging, and age-appropriate. We also wanted a curriculum that was flexible enough to allow us to customize it to our children’s learning styles. We chose a curriculum that includes a variety of activities such as reading, writing, math, science, and social studies.
Creating a Daily Rhythm
Once we had chosen a curriculum, we created a daily rhythm for our homeschooling. We wanted to create a routine that was both structured and flexible. We started each day with a morning meeting where we discussed our plans for the day. We then moved on to our core subjects such as reading, writing, and math. We also included time for physical activity, creative projects, and free play. We ended each day with a review of what we had learned and a discussion of our plans for the next day.
Incorporating Technology
We also incorporated technology into our homeschooling. We used online resources such as Khan Academy and YouTube to supplement our curriculum. We also used educational apps and websites to help our children learn. We found that using technology was a great way to keep our children engaged and motivated.
Field Trips and Socialization
We also made sure to include field trips and socialization in our homeschooling. We took our children on field trips to museums, parks, and other educational sites. We also joined a local homeschooling group so that our children could interact with other homeschooled children. We found that these activities were a great way to supplement our curriculum and give our children a chance to socialize.

Hello
I'm UK based and thinking of home schooling our SEN son. So much negativity towards home schooling and I honestly didn't know where to start. This video has helped alot to see what a average day of schooling for a 4/5 year old should be 😊
Random, where are you leather couches from??
I feel like I’m starting late . My child is 5 😅
Hi Bethany. Homeschooling is such a wonderful adventure! New subscriber here. I just found your channel. Love your enthusiasm! I'm a veteran homeschool mom of 4 but love to stay in touch with the community. Nice to meet you! ~Gina
Hi first time watching your content came across it while looking for homeschool stuff. My husband and I decided that it would be best for my 3 autistic kids to be homeschooled due to schools not being great specially for autistic kiddos. Im trying to inform myself more on how it works.. like what do I have to do in order for my kids to be homeschooled are you supposed to talk to the school board or something of that sort?? But anyways thank you for your content it was so helpful 💛
I homeschool my kids too. ❤
Thank you for sharing!
Used the trace the letters!
Genuine question . Aren’t parents worried about how their kids will attend college? Or what about college ? I’m genuinely curious because I want to homeschool my kids
Homeschooling is safer than taking your kids to public schools with all the new recent school shootings. But you need to take your children to do activities like play sports, gymnastics, dancing, wrestling, karate, volleyball, children need to be able to make friends.
Thank you! I just started
If you homeschool until 12th grade, how will the children receive their high school diploma?
Would you say what was your reasons why you choosed homeschooling?
This video is so informative. Thank you so much for sharing this mama. I’m homeschooling my babies and taking in all the advice I can get from other moms who are on the same path. ❤️
Absolutely amazing
I so hope it is easy cause i am making a home school for my moms b day
Currently I'm having fun remembering the good days of my innocent kindergarden life. One of the best games was: it was a board, on which we play. We were like 30 students. There was a lion on one side, and we were on the other side of the board. The lion has many hyaenas blocking us from moving towards him. There were 20 levels, and the lion was sitting at the 20th level. We start all at the first level, where there was the rat wheel. The lion goal was to push us back to that level 1. To go up in levels, you should jump a hyaena, which requires adopting its rule. If you pass the level 10, the zoo protect you. The more you near the 20th, the more the zoo protect you, the more it becomes challenging for the lion. If below the level 10, then the lion can fulfill its wish against you without intervention of the zoo. The lion is obviously far stronger, because he has magic features on the board. To force you below ten, the lion, our teacher, tries to make you break the rule of the 2nd or 4th or whatever Hyaena below 10. if so, then you get down to that level. I forgot the name of the game but it felt satisfying at the time.
Sometimes we replace the lion by shark, the hyaenas by dogs or demons. But the game structure remains the same.
Hi! Great videos! I was homeschooled all my life growing up and I still practice it through online schooling. Currently I am at Cal Poly Humboldt. It continues to be a wonderful experience. What motivated you to promote homeschooling in your family? The reason I was placed is because I was sheltered due to nuclear testing in my sector. I think it's the healthiest option whether one is sheltered or not. More power to you. 🙂
Is there anything you wonder about from me? I graduated Summa Cum Laude from a prestigious private school with a B.A. in Astrophysics. I'm a Doctor now specializing in blood through Tiffany & co.
Love this! I am actually considering doing a video similar but have older children. So many people have so many questions! Great information!
Bethany, I love your channel. I’m a new homeschooling mom of a 5/6 yo too. I can’t locate “Mystery Math”, where did you purchase it?
Seems a little sexist she only met with moms 🤷♂️🤣🤣
Yes isn’t this a great channel. She helped inspire this one where we show what’s possible with homeschooling
You're doing amazing!! Don't pay attention to any negative comments from those who don't understand. Your children are getting personalized attention from the teacher who cares about them more than anyone else in the whole wide world — their mom!! Homeschooling is an incredible blessing to your children and family. Keep it up, mama!
I don't concern about the education but about the time table or the schedule you maintain for your children in their soul and mind..how lucky is your husband and your children to have a mother and a wife like you..
I’m so excited I’ve found your channel. I have a toddler that is about to be 3 years old feb 21st. His father and I have been talking about homeschooling him! I’m nervous but excited. I’ve already started printing pages out for him for preschool. We will be making friends in sports and going out in the community. Our schools are not safe at all, and it’s been so scary to think about sending our kids to school. I also have a almost 1 year old that is loving to learn already!
Not me literally watching that and I myself am still learning and dont have kids hahaha but its so interesting
I wish more families with 3+ kids that range from toddler to almost 18 would post videos. It’s so hard homeschooling so many all over the place in age I feel like it could help a lot of mommas if more spoke up with multiples of older ages.
I like the workbooks you picked for yours. I have a 5 year old I’ve been kinda working with him with similar workbooks. He’s technically not supposed to be kindergarten because of his birthday but I still do it with him 😊 he’s so eager to learn.
Why would anyone homeschool their children? I just don't understand it. Teachers have the necessary education to teach. If you are not educated, I don't trust your ability to teach anyone. Besides, school is important for developing social skills.
I don't think this would be legal in most countries.
So excited to come across your channel! I also have a toddler who still naps and my other two are pre-K and Kinder this year. I’m just this day thinking of pulling them out of school and starting a homeschool journey for many different reasons. It’s exciting but I’m so nervous!! Looking forward to watching your content!!
My wife is so hot
Interesting video. Why do you do home schooling?
An interesting video. Why do you home school your child?
So much information!! ⭐
Just happened upon your beautiful channel. I am a 4th grade teacher at a Catholic school. I have to admit, when I get new students who have been homeschooled, it is quite rough for them at first. I am sure not all homeschooled kids are like this but the one's I have encountered are seriously lacking in their ability to communicate both verbally and in writing. They can read well and answer multiple choice questions but they lack critical thinking skills and the ability to construct sentences and paragraphs. Also—and this might just be a coincidence – their printing and cursive is—atrocious! I don't know why. Is much of their work done online? Also, they can't copy from the board, or even a book.
That said, if I had kids and was faced with our country's public school system, I would homeschool. I don't see it as ideal, but when faced with the alternative, I would do it.
Best of luck to you. I'm sure you will be able to make a success of it.
Welcome to homeschooling! I’m here for you if you feel overwhelmed. By year 3-4 it’s typical to feel at ease once again.
Omg this is perfectly timed!! Just started thinking of possibly homeschooling
some kids are VERY physical during learning and need to move around, so if that's your case, you can work that into your planning of days (build a simple bridge and see how it works by putting vehicles over it and how to fix it, move pieces from one pile to another to separate into Venn groups or primary things or numeration, basketball basket counting, running a string line to make design or shapes, etc) – – there might be a kid magazine that has subscription to receive countries' stuff in mail (kid makes art or whatever from each place, they learn a few words or food type, and such)
So glad you posted. Was missing your videos.
Nice couch by the way!
Thanks for sharing, Beth!! ❤️
Love this !!!!
i was just checking your channel yesterday for uploads!! i enjoy your content. hoping you all are well and settled in great. May God bless you and your family!
